Since this is an antique Homespun fabric, the color has faded. From the 1900s to the 1950s, CANAPA was a fabric woven in each household for use by ordinary citizens to make their own clothes, tablecloths, napkins, bags to put harvested grains in, and so on. In Bologna, Naples, and Rome, the raw material cannabis grew wild, and the fibers were beaten and extracted, and then used in each household to make fabrics for different purposes on a loom. In Italy, it has long been a custom to give new napkins, tablecloths, and bed linens to daughters when they get married, and this fabric was also used for these. However, after 1950, the wild growth of cannabis, the raw material, was regulated, and industrialization progressed, so it was no longer produced. Since it was hand-woven at home, it is a rare fabric that can only be obtained when it is found sleeping in the storehouse of an old family. Since it is made from hand-spun yarn, each piece has a different look, which is its charm.
