After studying traditional tailoring techniques at a tailoring factory in Japan, Emori moved to London, where he gained extensive experience in both design and garment construction. Upon returning to Japan, he established NOUSAN in his hometown of Toyama. A distinctive feature of NOUSAN is its deeply hands-on approach to craftsmanship. From pattern making and sewing to dyeing, much of the production process is carried out by Emori himself. Each garment is carefully crafted with an emphasis on three-dimensional cutting that naturally conforms to the body, quietly expressive textiles, and the warmth inherent in handmade clothing. Rooted in a minimalist design philosophy, NOUSAN introduces subtle nuances through silhouette, detailing, and material selection, creating garments that are understated yet leave a lasting impression. By embracing a method of production that stands in contrast to mass manufacturing and efficiency-driven processes, NOUSAN allows the traces of handcraft and the passage of time to be felt throughout each piece.
